An environmental survey of aquatic plants in the Shatt al-Arab River was carried from autumn 2019 to summer 2020. Six stations were selected to collect samples. 
The abundance of 22 species of aquatic plants belonging to 17 families was found, including 11 species of aquatic and semi-aquatic plants, and 11 species of terrestrial plants that thrive in humid areas close to the bank's edges of the Shatt al-Arab river.
