The college of science at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar marked" the reality of scientific research and the promotion of academic publishing", in the conference hall of the Department of chemistry, in the presence of a number of members of the faculty council, heads of departments, scientific committees, graduate study committees and their rapporteurs, as well as a group of teachers, researchers and graduate students.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Ali Abdul Razzaq Abdul Wahid, director of the Graduate Studies Division, Dr. Hisham Fayad Mohammed, director of the scientific division, and Dr. Nagin Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid, director of the studies and Planning Division.
The first axis dealt with modern ministerial instructions and directives related to the safety and control of scientific publishing, focusing on the legal obligations of publication, ensuring the authenticity of research derived from graduate theses and dissertations, the importance of actual scientific supervision and real research participation between the student and supervisor, as well as clarifying the administrative and legal consequences of research violations, and the actions taken against those involved in commercial publishing practices and dealing with intermediary offices.

The second axis included a presentation and analysis of comparative statistical indicators of scientific publishing in the Faculty of science during the academic years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, in order to assess the reality of research production, monitor the level of development in academic publishing, and diagnose aspects that require more attention and development.

The seminar witnessed a scientific presentation and clarification of the relevant instructions and controls, in order to enhance awareness of academic and ethical responsibility among teachers, researchers and graduate students, and emphasizes the importance of adherence to standards of integrity, originality and sobriety at all stages of research preparation and publication.
