The College of Science organizes a workshop on the importance of school gardens for school students.

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on school gardens and their importance for school students.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to school gardens and highlight their importance for students and create new generations capable of securing their own food. It also aimed to enhance students' interaction with nature and how to deal with emerging challenges.

The workshop, presented by Dr. Widad Mazban Taher, a lecturer in the Department of Ecology, covered the importance of school gardens as an educational resource that generates basic knowledge about food security.

The workshop recommended providing curricula on agriculture, its importance, methods, and conservation for all educational levels, launching a "My School, My Farm" project or campaign, and holding competitions between classes in the same school and between schools for the most beautiful school garden.
