Two teachers at the University of Basrah participate in a conference at the University of Basrah Oil and gas

Dr. Hussein Badr Ghalib and Dr. Wassan Sabeeh Hamdan participated in the first international scientific conference on oil and gas engineering held at Basra University of oil and gas where they presented a scientific research entitled modeling the interaction of liquids and rocks to improve oil extraction in the formation of the carbonate supervisor, halafaya oil field, Maysan, Iraq. The research included studying the chemical and physical properties of the formation water of the field of halafaya, the formation of the supervisor, and matching them with six models of surface water taken from different sources and modeling the compatibility of these waters in order to choose the most suitable for the development of injection operations for oil reservoirs . The study found that five types of the proposed water need to be treated before use in injections due to its high composition to minerals above the saturation limit, which leads to the formation of crusts and thus works to reduce the porosity and permeability of productive oil reservoirs, and the best and least flaky types of water are Kirkuk formation water to be twinned with the water of the supervisor formation .
