A dissertation in the Department of Pathological Analyses at the Faculty of Science at the University of Basrah investigated the associations between some biochemical changes and mononucleotide polymorphism rs1799817 in the insulin receptor gene in patients with Type II diabetes in Iraq.
The thesis included investigating the links between some biochemical changes and mononucleotide polymorphism rs1799817 in the insulin receptor gene in patients with Type II diabetes in Basra governorate.
The current study concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between genetic polymorphism and type II diabetes patients in Basra governorate, and a new global registration of the insulin resistance gene has been obtained in patients, and this new mutation, rs1799817, has been registered on the NCBI global website.
The letter recommended the inclusion or introduction of the level of the hormone beta-trophin in routine clinical practice for the diagnosis and follow-up of type II diabetes.
