The college of Science/ Department of geoscience at the University of Basrah organized a Workshop on geological reserves and geological diversity. The lecture aimed to introduce the geological reserves and their importance from the scientific and economic point of view for humans on the occasion of the International Day of geological diversity. The lecture, in which the lecturer, assistant professor Dr. Bassem Hamid Sultan, lectured, included a brief introduction about geological reserves and their importance in scientific and tourist aspects, an example of which is Mount Sanam . The seminar recommended the need to establish geological reserves to preserve the areas that have unique and distinctive geological and natural characteristics, including Mount Sanam, Hor dalmaj and others, and increase the number of events within the International Day of geological reserves in order for Iraq to get a distinctive position among the countries of the world celebrating this occasion.
