The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on environmental impact assessment in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Southern Region.

The workshop aimed to introduce the most important components of environmental impact assessment, its importance, and how to evaluate environmental impact.

The workshop, which was lectured by Dr. Firas Mustafa Hassan, a lecturer in the Department of Ecology at the College of Science, included an explanation of how to document information, monitor and collect environmental data, link information, organize it, and prepare it to evaluate its environmental impacts.

The workshop recommended the need to increase environmental awareness, issue more environmental laws, implement laws effectively, and pay attention to environmental impact reports.
