The College of Science at the University of Basra organized the Second International Scientific Conference for Applied Life Sciences. The conference aims to expand scientific awareness and revive dialogue among researchers to learn about the latest developments in scientific laboratories, provide a scientific space to review the scientific production of researchers, improve the reality of laboratory work, and develop research.
The conference included the presentation of approximately 68 research papers in attendance in the fields of life sciences, including immunity and microbiology, biotechnology and genetic engineering, environmental sciences, plant and animal sciences.
The head of the biology Sciences Department, Professor Dr. Wafa Saadoun Shani, said that one of the goals of the conference is to create a research platform for applied knowledge of the life sciences that works on participants’ research, keeping pace with various developments in the fields of applied life sciences, and providing opportunities for cooperation between researchers and academics in a distinguished, open scientific meeting.
The conference was attended by the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem, the respected Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Nouri Hammoud, the head of the union’s branch in Basra, Professor Dr. Diaa Falih Al-Fakiki, deans from various colleges, including the College of Medicine, Nursing, and Arts, Al-Maqal University, and many important figures in the governorate. . Several foreign and Arab countries and many Iraqi governorates, Baghdad, Diyala, and Kirkuk, participated in the conference. The conference also witnessed the presence of many university professors and students from various colleges.
