The College of Science organizes a workshop on biodiversity and sustainable development

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on biodiversity, development and sustainability within the skills development program for graduate students.

The workshop aimed to introduce students to biodiversity, which is the most important component of sustainable development, provides basic environmental services and contributes to the stability of ecosystems.

  The workshop, in which Dr. Dunya Ali Hussein lectured, included a comprehensive overview of the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services for sustainable development and the challenges facing biodiversity such as desertification, drought and habitat loss.

  The workshop recommended establishing natural reserves and national parks, activating the role of environmental policies and legislation in preserving biodiversity, and how to exploit natural resources sustainably in the fields of agriculture and tourism.
