The College of Science organizes a seminar on industrial applications and bacteria

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at Basra University organized a seminar on some industrial applications of bacteria that produce the keratinase enzyme.

The seminar, which was lectured by master’s student Nour Mahmoud Ahmed, aims to isolate keratinase-producing bacteria from soils containing poultry waste and use the most efficient isolates in enzyme production to process feathers and turn them into bioplastics and feed for livestock with high nutritional value.

The study addressed the emergence of new strategies for managing waste resulting from poultry farms after the introduction of keratinase enzymes in the sustainable development of materials that have industrial applications in green technologies.
