The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on manufacturing organic fertilizer using fungi to treat soils contaminated with oil waste.

The seminar, which was lectured by master’s student Neamat Abdel Karim Mohsen, aims to recycle organic waste using fungi to produce organic fertilizer and use it to treat soil contaminated with crude oil.

The workshop dealt with isolating fungi from agricultural soil, diagnosing them, and testing their enzymatic ability to produce organic fertilizer from organic waste and use it with the fungi present in it to treat oil-contaminated soil.
