The College of Science participated in the inauguration of the mangrove tree nursery in the branching area in Khor Al Zubair by cultivating the seeds of the mangrove trees in the College of Science nursery and transferring them to the branching area for cultivation there.

  The inauguration took place in the presence of the Minister of Environment, the Governor of Basra, the President of the University, a number of deputies of the Basra Governorate, and the representative of the United Nations, Jeanine Plaskhart.

The participation of the College of Sciences, under the supervision of Dr. Abdel-Ridha Akbar Al-Mayah and Dr. Widad Mezban Taher, is a contribution to the afforestation campaign to reduce the risks of climate change to the environment and humans.
