The University of Basrah hold a seminar on ) Preparation and study of the properties of titanium dioxide TiO2 nanorods application in solar cells(

A seminar entitled( Preparation and study of the physical properties of titanium dioxide TiO2 and molybdenum disulfide MoS2 and their application in solar cells) hold at the College of Science, Department of Physics.

The presenter ( Sajjad Said Dryol ) . the results of the images taken for the scanning electron microscope (SEM) were discussed. It turned out that the shape of the TiO2 compound is in the form of homogeneous quadrangular nanorods The upper faces of these bars are square in shape. As for the SEM images of the MoS2 compound, it turns out that the nanoparticles are formed in the form of nanosheets in two dimensions. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) for the two compounds were also discussed. The results of the study showed that all the diffraction peaks of TiO2 belong to the rutile phase, while the diffraction peaks of MoS2 belong to the hexagonal phase . The results of the optical measurements showed that the TiO2 compound absorbs in the ultraviolet region and the energy gap is about 2.99 eV, while the absorption spectrum of the MoS2 compound is in the visible region and the energy gap is 1.7 eV .
