a seminar on assessing the change in the water quality of the Shatt Al-Ashar Canal

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on assessing the change in the water quality of the Shatt al-Ashar canal after its rehabilitation in Basra Governorate.

The seminar, in which Adian Ali Kahami lectured, aims to study some of the physical, chemical and biological properties and some heavy elements and macronutrients of the waters of the Ashar River channel.

The seminar dealt with a comparison of these characteristics with previous studies.

The workshop recommended preserving the environment of the Al-Ashar River and working on establishing plants to treat wastewater before it is thrown into the river and returning the project to link the Al-Ashar channel with the Al-Khandaq channel in order to ensure full water circulation, as well as dredging the channel and all its subsidiary channels in Basra Governorate in order to increase its depths.
