The College of Science organizes a seminar on improving water quality and nanomaterials

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on improving water quality using the electrochemical method based on nanomaterials.

The seminar, which was lectured by the postgraduate student - Master Rand Salah Khalifa, aims to improve the properties of water associated with oil extraction by using nanomaterials that have the ability to remove petroleum hydrocarbons.

The seminar dealt with an introduction to water pollution, petroleum pollutants, the process of manufacturing nanoparticles from spinach leaf extract, and the manufacture of aptamers from the inner guts of salmon.

The seminar touched on the possibility of treating water contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons using nanotechnology, as it is an economical and highly efficient method.
