A panel discussion at the University of Basrah on (Evaluating the sedimentary status of the bottom of Khor Abdullah by geophysical investigations)

The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Assessing the sedimentary situation and mapping the bottom and sub-bottom features of Khor Abdullah through marine sedimentary and geophysical investigations). The seminar, in which the researcher Zainab Abdel-Reda Hamid lectured, aims to identify the ancient environmental deposits and the possibility of giving a visualization of the progress and decline of the sea in the study area. As well as studying the impact of modern engineering facilities (the great port of Faw) on the current sedimentary situation of the creek. In addition to determining the characteristics of the bottom and revealing the origin of the shallow islands in the creek and its morphological condition.
The study included conducting sedimentary and mineralogical analyzes of 40 m below-the-bottom gorges and shallow island samples, as well as a geophysical survey that includes taking stratigraphic sections under the bottom with a Strata Box device and photographing the bottom using marine sonar technology.
