A master's thesis  at the University of Basraha  (Genetic Variations of X – Chromosomal Short Tandem  Repeats (X-STRs) in Basrah   Population (

    Showed the researcher's thesis (Aliaa Mohammed Jaber) It involved collecting samples from different areas of Basrah from healthy non-relative donors from Basrah, extracting DNA, amplifying them and genetically analyzing them through a Genetic analyzer 3500 . The study showed that each locus contains a different number of alleles with a range of frequencies, polymorphism and diversity high genetic for each locus, the thesis aims to investigate the genetic variation in the population of Basrah to form a reference database for individual identification in the population of Basrah, and the study concluded that these loci are useful in forensic applications and individual identification of Basrah residents. The study recommended the importance of increasing the size of the population sample with an increase in the number of (X-STR) loci in order to have a more distinct and accurate database.
