A scientific study prepared by Dr. Makiya Mohalhal Khalaf in collaboration with Miss Donia Abdul Ali Hussein in the Department of Ecology, College of Science, University of Basra examined the determination of micro and nanoplastic pollution in a water treatment plant.
The study, which was published in the Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology, classified within Scopus containers Q3 revealed the presence of micro and nanoplastic materials in some liquefaction stations in Basra city.
The study included the physical and chemical properties of liquefied water.
The study recommended leaving or reducing the use of dangerous plastic materials and replacing them with environmentally friendly materials by using only safe and recyclable plastic materials, and not throwing their waste into water bodies.
