The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled Evaluating and Improving the Shatt Al-Arab River using environmentally friendly methods.

The seminar, which was attended by postgraduate student - Master's student Lina Alaa Mousa, aims to address environmentally friendly treatment methods and their use in getting rid of heavy metals present in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab and evaluating the quality of the Shatt water during the current period.

The seminar dealt with an introduction to heavy metals and their sources, and knowledge of some types of heavy metals offered by various industrial facilities.

The workshop dealt with plant treatment and how to remove inorganic pollutants in polluted areas, as it is one of the important, simple and inexpensive methods.
