A seminar at the University of Basrah on (Sedimentary specifications for the formation of the (lower faris) hole in the middle Miocene, in the Nahr Omar field in southern Iraq)

The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Sedimentary Specifications for the Formation of the Hole (Lower faris) in the Middle Miocene, in the Nahr Omar field in southern Iraq). The seminar, which was presented by researcher Kawthar Iyad Hassan, aims to identify the mineral heterogeneity and the type of sediments and determine the sedimentary environment of the overlapping layers in the Lower faris Formation (Fatha).

The study included collecting data from well probes and the core of the hole formation and preparing it for sedimentary and mineral studies. Studying sediment types, examining evaporites, marl, limestone, clay rock, and dolomite under the polarizing microscope and electron microscope, identifying and diagnosing the sedimentary environment of the sedimentary layers in the formation.
