Dr.Najah Abood Hussein a teaching staff member at the Faculty of Science, Department of Ecology at the University of Basra, participated in a workshop on the deterioration of biodiversity in the East Hammar Marsh, its causes and treatments, which was held in the Department of Ecology at the Faculty of Science. The participation included a lecture entitled Environmental classification of Southern Iraqi marshes.

The lecture dealt with classification of southernmarshes ecosystems depending on their affected by semi diurnal tidal effect and Disscued on ecosystem functioning functioning. Water quality of marshes, production cycles and decomposition, level of primary production.
