The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science organized, within a series of weekly lectures, a scientific lecture entitled Types of genetic Variations and Their Importance, delivered by Dr.Milad Abdul Salam Abdul Azeez Al-Naseri. The lecturer aimed to highlighting on types of genetic variations and their importance and impact on individual level and population level, the lecturer include introduction to genetic material definition, the consequences of replication errors , types of genetic variations , the occurrence positions of mutations , types of mutations according to (molecular, functional, transcriptional and translational )levels, highlighting on polymorphisms and their types,  highlighting on recombination, genetic drift and genetic flow, detection methods for genetic variations ( cytogenetically and genetically)
