The Department of Chemistry at the College of science organized a seminar Some Biochemical Parameters and Minerals in Serum of Celiac Disease Patients. The  sciecntist has clarified that her M.Sc. project aims to study some hematological parameters, biochemical parameters and trace elements in patients with celiac disease and compare them with those of healthy subjects.

The study included measurement of complete blood count (CBC) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). Measurement of the level of alanine transporters (ALT), aspartate transporters (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Measurement of the level of ferritin, folic acid, parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin B12 and vitamin D. Some trace elements were also measured, which included copper (Cu), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), and zinc (Zn). The study dealt with the results of the above measurements in the groups of celiac disease patients and compared them with the healthy group.
