A scientific study at Basra University is researching the parasite causes of cholecystis and appendicitis.

A scientific study at Basra University prepared by master student Nisreen Muhammad Abbas from the Department of Biology Sciences and Professor Dr. Muslim Abdel Rahman from the Department of Pathological Analyses in College of Sciences entitled Parasitic Causes of Infectitis of the gallbladder and appendicitis in Basra Governorate in Iraq.
The study, published in the Turkish Journal of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (Scopus Q4), showed that the main causes of appendicitis and cholecysiotherapy are parasitic.
The study included examination of histologic parts of specimens from appendices and the gallbladder sac surgically extracted and stained with special pigments such as the general dye hematoxylcin and eocin.
The results of the study found that the main causes of appendicitis and gall bladder were Isospora and Microsporaidia parasites is about (54% and 2%)respectively,  and 58% totaly. So, the study recomended that many of these organs' inflammatory pathogens could be cured without removal.
