A seminar in University of Basrah titled Mineralogical and Geochemical variation of the sediments on the banks of Shatt AL-Arab and Shatt AL-Basrah rivers, southern Iraq held in the College of Science in Geology Department,  the researcher Amna Noori Ali demonstrated the most important objectives of study by determine the mineralogical component of the sediments (clay minerals, non-clay mineral, and heavy minerals),  geochemical study included the analyses of major and minor element oxides, trace elements, to determine the proportions of each of them, and then knowing the extent of the change in their ratios compared to the global concentrations. Knowing the variation ratio of these elements and minerals in Shatt Al-Arab and Shatt Al-Basrah and the type of influencing factor.
