The University of Basrah organizes a seminar (Obesity and its clinical management)

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar  (A physiological study on obese laboratory animals (Rattus norvegicus) and the evaluation of the effects of certain medicinal plants and dietary supplements on them) by the graduate student Jafer hamed Munaty.  The study aims To evaluate the effects of Panax ginseng and Salvia hispanica (chia) on obesity in experimental animal models and to compare their efficacy with the dietary supplement creatine and included Extraction of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants—specifically chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) and ginseng roots (Panax ginseng)—and their characterization using GC–MS (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry) analysis, followed by an investigation of the physiological, biochemical, and hormonal effects of chia seeds, ginseng roots, and creatine on obese male laboratory rats and the study was recommendedز The use of longer treatment durations and varying concentrations of chia (Salvia hispanica), ginseng (Panax ginseng), and creatine solution to evaluate potential side effects of administration, as well as the purification and isolation of bioactive compounds from chia seeds and ginseng roots for their antioxidant  properties.
