A Faculty Member from the University of Basrah Participates in an International Scientific Conference


A faculty member at the University of Basrah / College of Science, Professor Dr. Najwa Mohammed Jameel Ali, was selected to participate in the 16th International Conference on Middle East Inventions, presenting an invention related to the production of an antifungal agent derived from pigmented yeasts, held at the Kuwait Scientific Club in the State of Kuwait.
The University of Basrah announced the participation of Professor Dr. Najwa Mohammed Jameel Ali, a faculty member at the College of Science, in the activities of the 16th Middle East Invention Conference and International Exhibition of Inventions, organized by the relevant authorities in Kuwait, during the period from February 7, 2026, to February 12, 2026.
The conference focuses on patents and inventions in the Middle East, highlighting the importance of supporting innovation and knowledge transfer. It also provides a specialized scientific platform for presenting new inventions and modern technologies to experts and investors. Furthermore, it aims to enhance communication and exchange of expertise among Arab and international inventors, while supporting the development of research projects with practical applications in various fields.
The participation of Professor Dr. Najwa Mohammed Jameel Ali aimed at presenting a scientific patent related to the production of antifungal agents for the treatment of skin infections caused by Candida, which is considered a common health problem with significant clinical impact. This participation also reflects the efforts of the College of Science to promote applied scientific research, link innovation to medical and societal needs, and highlight the role of the University in international scientific events.
In her work, the researcher demonstrated the possibility of producing an effective antifungal agent from pigmented yeasts, contributing to the development of promising therapeutic alternatives that may be adopted in the future for the treatment of Candida-related skin infections using safer and more efficient approaches.
The conference included comprehensive presentations on supporting innovation and knowledge transfer, protecting intellectual property rights and their role in sustainable economic development, and connecting inventors with investment opportunities and international cooperation networks. In addition, it highlighted the creativity of Arab youth and encouraged them to provide innovative solutions in various fields such as energy, environment, and modern technologies.
