College of Science organizes a lecture on date palm tissues and combating desertification

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a lecture on date palm tissue culture: a sustainable environmental solution to combat desertification and enhance biodiversity.

The lecture aimed to introduce the methods of tissue culture of dates and the importance of this method in producing large numbers of palm plants in a shorter period of time than seedlings and its importance in enhancing the production and cultivation of palm seedlings and defining the importance of palm cultivation and its reflection on improving the environmental reality.

The lecture, which was given by Dr. Khayoun Ali Mohsen, a lecturer at the Palm Research Center at the University of Basra, included a statement on tissue culture of dates and its importance in increasing palm planting and the importance of this plant in protecting and improving the ecosystem.
