A scientific trip was organized for the fourth-year students in the Department of biology Sciences within the Practical Comparative Anatomy course to the Natural History Museum.. with the aim of informing the students about the various types of mummified vertebrates found in the various halls of the museum. where the students viewed and watched the different types of vertebrate groups such as mammals, fish, birds and insects of different types and the collection from the environment of Basra and Iraq and learned about the natural environments of these animals. They also learned about the types of geological rocks collected from Basra Governorate. The museum officials also explained and provided useful information to the students about the contents of the museum and how to collect these different animals and the method of mummifying them and simulating their natural environment.. as well as the modern methods used in mummification.
The supervisors of the trip praised the efforts made by the students and the teaching staff and stressed the importance of such scientific activities in consolidating scientific concepts and developing field skills and cooperating with the university to provide scientific and practical workshops and seminars for students in the Department of Life Sciences.
