The Department of geoscience at the college of Science discussed a master's thesis entitled sedimentary characteristics of the formation of the Nile ( Middle Miocene) and the formation of anjaneh ( upper Miocene) in Karbala governorate for the researcher (Maryam abdulamam Yassin) . The study included the study of the sedimentary characteristics of the wangana oil formation through laboratory field work, which included isotope analyses, through which the depositional environment and the source of sediments were known, as well as the study of the rock analysis of sandstone components, through which the source of sediments and the environment of sedimentation, heavy metals, clay and metamorphic processes were known, as well as clay minerals were studied, through which the conditions of the depositional environment, transport factors and climate were known . The results have concluded that the depositional environment of the nafil formation is shallow marine, while that of the Anjana formation is continental fluvial . The study recommends to add more sections and Wells covering Karbala province can add a framework for correlation and analysis of sedimentation history.
