Master thesis at Basrah University to be discussed Colistin resistance in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae.

A master's thesis at the faculty of Science at the University of Basrah (Investigation of Colistin Resistance among Carbapenem Resistance Klebsiella Pneumoniae from Clinical Samples in AL- Basrah Governorate ,Iraq )

Researcher's  Duha Hassan Abdul -Wahab thesis aimed to identify colistin resistance in clinical samples of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria.

The thesis concluded the ability of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates to produce extended-spectrum beta-lactam enzymes and carbapenem enzymes against third-generation cephalosporins and monobactams due to the ability of these bacteria to produce resistance genes. The thesis also concluded the possibility of using the antibiotic colistin to treat carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections in Basrah hospitals due to its lack of resistance.

The thesis recommended attention to employing prevention and control strategies, especially in the hospital environment, to prevent the spread of resistance.
