A lecturer at the College of Science at the University of Basra, Mr. Moataz Hikmat Othman, in the Department of Ecology, published an article entitled Electronic waste, the tax of technological progress.
The article included an explanation of the concept of electronic waste, which is all electronic and electrical equipment that we no longer use and that suffers from a defect and is no longer compatible with modern technologies. This waste contains quantities of toxic materials such as lead, barium, cadmium, and mercury.
The article was published in the Iraqi “sky” news agency, which outlined how this waste spreads due to the methods of disposal, which cause water, air and soil pollution, as well as the damage caused by the recycling process.
