The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on assessing the health risk to humans resulting from exposure to polycyclic aromatic compounds.

The workshop, which was lectured by Dr. Fadia Mushtaq Saleem, a lecturer in the Department of Ecology, included defining aromatic compounds and explaining their danger to humans.

The workshop touched on a study on evaluating aromatic compounds in the soil of Basra Governorate and identifying the potential danger of these compounds to humans.

The workshop recommended the need to evaluate the potential danger of aromatic compounds in industrial areas to determine their suitability for workers. It also recommended the need to improve the quality of fuel used in cars, increase green spaces, and increase people’s environmental awareness.
