Basra University organizes a scientific lecture on(The role of carotenoids extracted from colored yeasts as antifungals)

The College of Science at the University of Basra hosted a scientific lecture on (the role of carotenoids extracted from colored yeasts as antifungals). The lecture presented by the lecturer, Professor Dr. Najwa Muhammad Jamil, showed that the colored yeasts in Iraqi soil are a source of antifungals. The lecture discussed the topic of dyes produced from yeasts isolated from the regions. Environmental extremes of high salinity or acidity. The lecture aims to identify the important, genetically identified species that produce carotenoids and their mechanism of killing chronic fungal skin pathogens that infect humans. The lecture recommended paying attention to the colorful yeast species that produce dyes because of their importance as antibiotics, studying their chemical composition and effectiveness as antibacterial and antiparasitic agents, and determining their toxicity to laboratory mice
