University of Basrah has been formally enrolled in the international recognised Three Minutes Thesis competition (3MT).

The University of Basrah representor Assistant Prof. Dr. Marwan Y. Al-Maqtoofi has registered UoB in the 3MT competition that established by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. Dr Marwan Al-Maqtoofi got his PhD in the field of Immunology from Exeter University, which is one of the top 10 universities in the UK. This program will have a great impact through developing students’ academic skills, professional presentation, and expand their research idea and communication skills with other international academic communities. Presenting in a 3MT competition increases their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. That means developing student’s time management capabilities with increasing on research points. That would help PhD students to enhance their CVs. The UoB participation in the global 3MT event will enhance the academic and scientific reputation and expand sharing research thoughts and collaborations. There are more than 600 universities around the world have registered in the 3MT competition within over 80 countries including the US, the UK, Europe and Australia. The main Arabic countries that have participated including in this program are Eygpt, Algeria, KSA Jordan and UAE. It is nice to point that the UoB is the second university at Iraq level universities after the University of Kufa. Based on that the UoB Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen and 3MT representor Assistant Prof. Dr. Marwan Y. Al-Maqtoofi would like to thank University of Queensland (UQ) for their help and support
