The College of Science organizes a scientific trip to the Shatt al-Basra Regulator

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific trip for students of courses 456, 421 Environmental Toxins, and 302 Marine Environment for morning study.

  The visit was to the Shatt al-Basra Regulator to inform the students about the work of the Regulator, along with the hydrological characteristics of the Shatt al-Basra and its navigational importance.

The visit was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Asia Fadel Abdullah, Dr. Anfas Nima Akash, Dr. Sadad Asaad Mutshar, Dr. Muhammad Salem Mawil, and Mr. Moataz Hikmat Othman, teaching staff in the Ecology Department. The regulator’s workers provided a field explanation of how the regulator is operated to regulate water levels in the Shatt al-Basra and how the navigational channel works in passing small and medium ships and ships in the course of the canal. To enrich the practical aspect by applying science on the ground, which leads to enhancing students’ confidence in the science they are studying.
