Master thesis discusses biodegradation and filamentous fungi

A master's thesis, Department of Ecology, College of Science, University of Basrah, discussed biodegradation of Methyl orange and Congo red by some filamentous fungi isolated from water and sediment in Basrah province.

The researcher Rihab Razzaq Hamid’s thesis included a study of the ability of fungi to biodegrade the two dyes.

The thesis aims to biodegrade the two dyes and determine the optimal factors for fungal growth and biodegradation.

The study concluded the effectiveness of the biodegradation

in reducing the toxicity of the two dyes after treatment.

The thesis recommended conducting further studies to assess the ability of fungi to biodegrade different types of azo dyes.
