The College of Science, Department of Geology, University of Basra, organized a workshop entitled Principle and Advanced Sequence Stratigraphy, which was given by Assistant Professor Dr. Fahd Mansour Saqr, a teacher in the Department of Earth Science. The course aims to identify the facies construction and how to make facies geological models and use the principles of sequential layers to predict the locations of expected and undiscovered oil fields by scientific methods and at lower costs.

The workshop lasted for several days and dealt with several topics:
The first day: the basics and principles of sequential classes
Day 2: Stratified seismic techniques
The third day: rock and core detectors and how to interpret the probes
The fourth and final day was about constructing a numerical stratigraphic model and using fossils in sequential stratigraphic interpretations. In conclusion, appreciation certificates were distributed to the participants in the workshop.
