A master's thesis discusses improving the efficiency of an artificial wetland system

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra has discussed a master's thesis on wetlands and how to use them to treat wastewater using biofilm-bearing elements and water lentils.

The thesis, in which the postgraduate student, Benin Hussein Zboun, lectured, aimed to compare the performance of the wetland system in the case of the presence of plants and the elements bearing biofilms and gravel, and in the absence of them, and to compare the performance of the system between the winter and summer seasons.

The results of the study concluded that the biofilm-carrying elements and water lentils used in this research have the ability to treat large quantities of pollutants present in wastewater.
