A master’s thesis at the University of Basra discusses the histological and physiological effect of glutamine on induced hypothyroidism in male laboratory rats

May Khairallah Ali) The importance of glutamine as a protective and nutritional factor The study aims to know the effect of glutamine as an important nutritional factor to prevent the side effects of hypothyroidism.  The strong correlation between hypothyroidism and body weight and weight gain in the experimental groups compared with the control and the variable inflammatory response and the influence of both thyroid tissue and liver during the phases of induction of hypothyroidism.  The study recommended giving great importance to the early detection of hypothyroidism and its treatment because of its serious complications, a molecular study to clarify the gene expression of most of the genes associated with hypothyroidism, an immunological study to clarify the systemic immune response during the stages of hypothyroidism, dependence on glutamine as an important nutritional factor to prevent the side effects of hypothyroidism,  Patients with hypothyroidism should follow a low-calorie diet to help prevent weight gain
