Master thesis at Basrah University to be discussed Cytotoxic study of amygdalin extract from apricot seeds (Prunus armeniaca L.) on MCF-7 and Vero cell lines In vitro

A master's thesis at the faculty of science at the University of Basrah ((Cytotoxic study of amygdalin extract from apricot seeds (Prunus armeniaca L.) on MCF-7 and Vero cell lines In vitro)), the researcher's thesis Zainab Safaa Abid showed the cytotoxic activity of amygdalin extract from apricot seeds on two types of cell lines one of them is a cancerous and the other is non-cancerous cell line. The thesis aimed to the chemical isolation of amygdalin, tested its purity and examined the amygdalin extract as anti-cancer agent. The thesis concluded that amygdalin has an inhibitory effect on the growth of MCF-7 cancer cell line and caused cell death by apoptosis and necrosis, the thesis recommended further studies for the purpose of another pharmaceutical activities of amygdalin extract.
