The College of Science/Department of Biology organized a panel discussion on fungal infections in diabetic foot by master student Nagham Majed Khano.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between fungal infections and diabetic foot, the diagnosis and symptoms of fungal infection, as well as the most common types and virulence factors, and to study the genetic and physiological aspects of diabetic foot infection. It was concluded that the most common types of fungi causing infection are Candida species, and the virulence factors that contribute to infection are:
Adhesions , invasions , Secreted hydrolases , Phenotypic switching , Biofilm formation
