The lecturers in the Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra, Dr.Makia M. Al-Hejuje, Azhar A. Al-asadi, participated in the Second International Conference on Environment and Marine Sciences, which was held at the College of Science.

The participation included a lecture entitled Assessment the Trophic status of Al-Chibayish marsh, southern Iraq .

The lecture aimed to assess the trophic status of water at Al-Chibayish Marsh using trophic status indices to investigate the effect of domestic sewage discharged into the marsh .

the study recommendation is Establishment of appropriate sanitary facilities of a central treatment plant in Al-Chibayish Marsh -connecting sewage plants with each other to treat wastewater before it is put into the marsh.
