The Department of Chemistry, College of Science at the University of Basrah hosted a lecture about protein glycosylation and its medical importance> the scientific lecture has been presented by Dr. Ehsan Hassan Aldabbagh, a faculty member of the College of Medicine at the University of Mousul.   

The aim of the lecture was to define the non enzymatic glycosylation which takes place in diabetes mellitus and the importace of glycated hemoglobin measurement. A breif demonstration of  types of protein glycosylation that can take place in human body by two mechanisms either ezymatic as  a part of post translation process, non ezymatic as one of diabetic complications.
