The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled "Preparation and Characterization of Tungsten Trioxide Nanoparticles for a Photoelectrochemical Glucose Sensor," presented by graduate student Haider Hassan Nima. The study included the development of two methods for preparing tungsten trioxide nanoparticles: the first using hydrothermal deposition, and the second using thermal deposition using solvents other than water (sulfothermal). The study also aimed to study the structural and surface properties of the prepared particles, and to determine the energy gap and the effect of temperature on its magnitude. The study also aimed to determine the response of the prepared particles to light during oxidation reactions in an electrochemical cell, as well as their response to changes in the glucose concentration in the cell.
