Definition

The continuous  Education Unit is an educational and training unit for college and university staffs. It also represents a window overlooking the college and interacting positively with its various educational institutions through the provision of training courses, seminars and specialized scientific workshops that meet the needs of all institutions and society.

Vision :

The continuous  Education Unit seeks to be a distinctive training unit to meet the needs of the faculty of science, and the unit seeks to develop and provide its services to the community through training and education in the public and educational fields in order to serve our beloved Iraq.

Message :

Providing training services to the college and university and to various state institutions and classes of society in proportion to their needs through the use of modern technologies for communication and community service in accordance with comprehensive quality standards.

Objectives :

The Continuing Education Unit aims to develop students, academics, and employees in the College of Science and the University of Basra Providing training services to various classes of society and to various state departments through holding workshops and seminars in various scientific disciplines. Continuing to develop specialized training methods in line with global scientific development and modernity and the use of education and electronic communication to include the largest segment of society and meet their needs.

Tasks:

  • Determining the training programs for the faculty and university staff through coordination with the scientific departments in the Faculty of Science, with high-quality efficiency and sobriety in the community as well.
  •   Selecting the dates of the courses, workshops and scientific lectures that are held weekly, the place of their convening, and the target group for discreet scientific development.
  • Determining the trainers from the College of Science as well as from outside the college in coordination with the Deanship of the College and the continuous Education Center at the University of Basra.
  • Supervising training courses and programs and following up the issuance of certificates and attendance lists in an official manner.
  • Confirmation of the prior announcement of the activities of the continuous Education Unit in coordination with the Media and Public Relations Unit at the College of Science, as well as the announcement and documentation of activities on the website of the College of Science.

Workflow :

  • Coordination with the scientific departments in the College of Science and the continuous Education Center in Basra University, the teaching activity.
  • Preparations for holding scientific activities such as seminars, courses and workshops in terms of providing halls or laboratories, registering participants, issuing certificates and participating participation books.
  • Coordination with external lecturers from outside the College of Science or with lecturers from universities in Iraq, taking approvals to obtain training, and giving scientific lectures in person.
  • Inviting lecturers and trainers from outside Iraq from international universities or from global service sectors to keep pace with the development and continuous knowledge of scientific development and research methodology

Directions and goals:

  • Increasing scientific and educational training programs for the societies of the various institutions.
  • Training of educational staff using scientific techniques and modern applied specialized programs.
  • Diagnose environmental, medical and natural problems and give solutions within systematic and scientific programs.
  • Training Students of the College of Science and students of Basra University from the university academic program for various disciplines and with a training staff hosted by private oil companies or from international trainers.
  • Training postgraduate students, each according to their specialization, in the field of scientific research by increasing courses for developing research skills and writing for the sake of discreet scientific publishing in accordance with international standards.
