The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Physiological and Histopathological Effects of induced liver fibrosis and role of Matrix Metalloprotenase-13 (MMP-13) in male rats) by the graduate student Ali Hussein Salman
The study aimed to: investigate the protective role of vitamin D3 and its role in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver (Lf) and its complications and evaluate the role of the quantitative MMP-13 enzyme using the (ELIZA) technique as well as study Histological immunohistochemistry for the expression of (MMP-13) in the liver tissues of mice induced with (Lf) during the different stages of fibrosis up to the late stage of fibrosis which is the stage of hepatic cirrhosis and compared with the control and included the identification of some biochemical variables associated with (Lf), such as the content of fats, antioxidant enzymes, liver function enzymes, and clarifying the histopathological changes associated with (Lf)and the study was recommended The study recommended an immunohistochemical study to evaluate the vitamin D receptor (VDR) and markers on mesenchymal cells, hepatocytes and kupffer cells associated with cirrhosis as well as quantitative and qualitative quantification of metalloproteinase (MMP) expression using RT-qPCR
