The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Chronic Toxicity of Ecological Pollutants ( Heavy Metals ) in Cancer Patients in Basra Province) by the graduate student Iman Abdul-Haleem K. Neama
The study aims evaluate the concentrations of toxic metals and trace elements including Al, Hg, Cd, Ni, Pb, Cr, Fe, Cu, Zn, Ca, Mg, and Na in biological samples of cancer patients, and included collecting whole blood, serum and hair samples taken from patients with breast cancer, lung cancer and stomach cancer in Basra province to study the significant differences in the concentration of heavy metals compared to healthy groups, in addition to studying the effect of using deodorants on the concentration of metals in breast cancer patients and the effect of smoking in lung cancer patients. and the study was recommended More studies need to determine other heavy metals that are related to other categories of illness in humans and The serum samples in the three cancer cases showed the most significant differences in the concentration of heavy metals compared to the whole blood and hair samples. Therefore, it can be suggested that the serum samples have the best reliance on them for heavy metal examination in patients as a primary means of predicting diseases.
