The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Some immunological aspects associated with pregnancy)

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Some immunological aspects associated with pregnancy) by the graduate student Sarah Kareem Mohammed.
The study aims to define the role of the immune system and the changes that occur in it during pregnancy. The study included addressing the most important changes and adaptations that occur in the maternal immune system in order to provide maximum protection for the mother and fetus from external risks and at the same time provide a tolerant environment for this fetus to avoid the immune response against this growing fetus.
The lecture also included the role of the placenta cells in regulating the expression of human leukocyte antigens (HLA), which has a major role in preventing fetal rejection by regulating acquired and autoimmunity towards the fetus.
The lecture also included the role of all types of immune cells (Natural killer cells, Macrophage, Dendritic cells, T cells and B cells) and the changes that occur in them during pregnancy, in addition to the role of cytokines in regulating the inflammatory response during pregnancy and maintaining an integrated tolerant environment for the fetus.
