University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Soil Treatment with Silica and Cement

College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on analyzing the engineering performance of selected soils in Basrah after treatment with silica and cement.

The seminar aimed to evaluate the engineering performance of clay soil in Al-Haritha and sandy soil in Al-Zubair, compare the effect of silica alone and with cement, and determine the optimal ratio for each soil type.

The seminar, presented by researcher Rehab Mahmoud Adhab under the supervision of Dr. Huda Ahmed Daham, included a review of previous studies, the research gap, and the methodology of the study, which involved ten mixtures for each soil type. The samples underwent soil classification tests and engineering tests such as compression testing, consolidation testing, CBR (compression-reduction) testing, direct shear testing, SEM analysis, and EDX analysis.
